Bayern resigned to losing Alaba – Rummenigge

Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has admitted the club are resigned to losing David Alaba for free next summer, as relayed by Marca.

Alaba’s contract with the Bavarias expires at the end of the season and Rummenigge says talks about an extension have been held but have so far been unsuccessful. Apparently, the Austrian defender wanted an acceptable offer on his table by the end of October, but he refused the one he got and Rummenigge implies it was a good one.

“Bayern did everything we could to try and reach an agreement,” Rummenigge said.

“We had a lot of conversations, but we wanted answers from him by the end of October. This didn’t happen and I don’t know if we’ll return to the negotiations.

“What I want to be clear about is that our offer showed exactly how much we value him, but he didn’t accept it”.

Alaba has been linked with a number of top clubs in England and Spain, most notably Real Madrid. Asked about the rumours about the Spanish giants, Rummenigge said he didn’t know anything about that and that the player was free to talk to any suitor club from January 1st.
