(GSM) – Bayern München have dropped their interest in Benfica’s Fabio Coentrao following the Lisbon club’s ‘exorbitant demands’.
While, Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge recently admitted that the talented young wing-back was being monitored, but the Portuguese outfit’s reported £25.2 million asking price meant the deal was virtually over.
The 22-year-old has already attracted interest from a host of clubs across Europe, after starting all four of Portugal’s World Cup matches this summer.
“Coentrao is a great player, but we are not even close to paying Benfica SL the money they are looking for. They’ve got exorbitant demands, this deal is off,” Rummenigge told Bild.
