Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness says the Bundesliga club are not lining up a move for Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.
The 25-year-old has been strongly linked with a move away from Ligue 1 after establishing himself as one of the most prolific strikers in France, currently with 18 goals.
He has been suggested as a top target of Bayern for next season, but Hoeness has guaranteed that the Bavarian club have decided against following up their interest in the Frenchman.
“He is a player who impressed me when Germany played against France,” Hoeness told RTL.
“But his profile is too similar to Mario Gomez’s. We want an attacker who can be associated with Gomez.”
Montpellier are currently at the top of the Ligue 1 standings, level on points with Paris Saint-Germain, with a match in hand.
