Bayern Munich have decided to reignite and step up their interest in signing Leroy Sane from Manchester City this summer, according to SportBild.
Their wish to bring the former Schalke winger back to Germany has been known for a long time, and it is widely believed it would have happened last summer had there not been for the crucial ligament rupture he suffered in the Community Shield clash against Liverpool in August. He returned to the pitch with City’s U-23 side at the end of February, but is yet to make his first-team comeback.
Sane was an important part of the City team that won the Premier League title in 2017/18, but Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez mostly kept him out of the starting XI the following season.
It is believed, as the German outlet reports, that Bayern boss Hans-Dieter Flick held a 30-minute talk over the phone with the 24-year-old, discussing a switch to the Allianz Arena this summer.
