(GSM) – Genoa are closing in on a deal with Bayern München striker Luca Toni, club president Enrico Preziosi has confirmed.
The Rossoblu have agreed a deal with Bayern and are looking forward to having the former Roma hitman in their squad.
“With Toni we have agreed a deal in principal, so now we need to discuss the details,” said Preziosi.
“They are important details but we should seal the deal soon.”
The Genoa chairman was also keen to brush off rumours they want to make a move for Roma’s Julio Baptista, even if he plans to meet with the Giallorossi before the World Cup.
“On Thursday my men will also talk to Roma,” he added. “However, we are not interested in Julio Baptista because the arrival of Toni means we do not need the Brazilian.
“I think there could be deals with the Giallorossi but a direct exchange between Alexandre Doni and Marco Amelia is unlikely.
“Of course I like Daniele De Rossi but I also like Matteo Brighi for instance. We also need to sort the co-ownership deal regarding Leonardo Bonucci.
“We can talk about him with other clubs and work on new potential swaps because I can’t see much cash around.”
