Ailing German champions Bayern Munich suffered another blow on Wednesday as it was announced striker Miroslav Klose would miss the next two matches with a left thigh injury.
The 32-year-old – who took his international tally to 58 in 105 matches when he scored in the 3-0 Euro 2012 qualifier victory over Kazakhstan on Tuesday – will miss the league match with Hanover on Saturday and next Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Romanian outfit Cluj.
Klose – who has scored six goals in four qualifiers this season but failed to find the net in seven league games – joins Dutch midfielder Mark van Bommel on the treatment table following the Euro qualifiers.
Bayern are already without star Dutch winger Arjen Robben – who was Bundesliga player of the season last term – and French playmaker Franck Ribery, both of whom are also injured.
Bayern, who reached the Champions League final and landed the domestic double last season, are languishing in 12th place in the league table, 13 points adrift of surprise leaders Mainz after seven matches.
