Bayern Munich may have to do without Bastian Schweinsteiger for the clash with Schalke on Saturday after he suffered an ankle injury.
The Germany international pulled out of the Germany squad for Wednesday’s international friendly against France, and Bayern coach Jupp Heynckes is unsure whether the midfielder will be fit in time for Saturday’s encounter.
“Bastian’s having real problems with the ankle,” Heynckes was quoted as saying on the club’s official website.
“It’s possible there could be a negative reaction in training.”
Schweinsteiger has been a key player for the Bavarians this season, scoring four goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances.
