Bayern Munich are hoping to sign Ronald Araujo from Barcelona, according to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany.
Apparently, a phone call between Bayern head coach Thomas Tuchel, sporting director Christoph Freund and Araujo himself took place a few days ago, and Tuchel informed the Barcelona defender in no uncertain terms that he’s wanted urgently at the Allianz Arena, no matter the cost. The transfer would take place either in January or in the summer next year, and the Bundesliga champions are willing to pay a large fee to make it happen.
Araujo is currently under contract with the Catalan club until the summer of 2026, which means Barcelona certainly wouldn’t let the 24-year-old Uruguay international go cheap.
Having struggled with a muscle injury early in the season, Araujo has made 13 appearances for Barcelona this season in all competitions, nine in La Liga and four in the Champions League. He started 10 of those games, which highlights his importance to Xavi’s team.
