Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have moved to confirm that they are not considering the sale of talented midfielder Renato Sanches.
The 19-year-old joined the Bavarians in a €35 million deal last summer, but he has since utterly failed to justify the hefty transfer fee.
After starting just six league games last season, Sanches was linked with a summer exit, with Man Utd and Marseille reportedly prepared to offer him an escape route from Allianz Arena.
However, rather than cutting their losses this summer, Bayern are ready to give the youngster a new chance to impress.
“I am sure that we will attempt another year with him,” the Bavarians chairman Uli Hoeness told Bild. “It is a firm stance.
”The boy could never play three or four games without pressure.”
Renato Sanches had impressed in his debut season with Benfica, before making six appearances at the Euro 2016 finals as Portugal went on to claim the coveted trophy.
