According to Liverpool Echo, Bayern Munich are frustrated with being unable to move forward in their pursuit of Fulham’s Joao Palhinha, and they’ve turned their attention to Everton’s Amadou Onana as an alternative target.
Bayern have been trying to sign Palhinha since last summer and their first attempt failed at the eleventh hour. The development was followed by reports of the Bavarians being likely to try again in January, but that didn’t happen either. They have, however, tried again over the recent weeks but it seems Fulham’s valuation of the Portugal international is too high, and Onana might just be the right man to boost their base-of-midfield options ahead of 2024/25 instead.
Vincent Kompany, the recently appointed Bayern head coach, is apparently an admirer of his Belgian compatriot, and both Onana and Everton are believed to be open to parting ways under the right circumstances.
The 22-year-old, who obviously represents a much younger, as well as cheaper option than Palhinha who turns 29 next month, made a total of 40 appearances for Everton across all competitions in 2023/24. He’s been linked with Arsenal as well.
