Heynckes’ men appear to be running away with the domestic league crown, holding a 15-point advantage over second-placed Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern look set to make the Champions League quarter-finals after a 3-1 win at Arsenal in the first leg of their round-of-16 tie.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Werder Bremen on Saturday, Heynckes said his players were good enough to switch their attentions back to the Bundesliga.

“There were times when Bayern-Werder was a very special Bundesliga match,” Heynckes said.

“I have seen a DVD about them and must say that they lost unluckily at home to Freiburg. Two weeks ago they won in a stunning manner away 4-1 against Stuttgart.

“They are offensively very strong, they are creative. From the past and even in this season they proved that they run a lot.

“Now we need to switch from Champions League to Bundesliga and I think we will manage this.”

Saturday will mark the 1000th Bundesliga match Heynckes has been involved in – his 631st coaching after appearing in 369 as a player.
