Vincent Kompany praised Bayern Munich for being “very important in the crucial moments” of their comeback victory over Stuttgart.
The Bundesliga leaders came from behind to prevail 3-1 at MHPArena and move 11 points clear of second-place Bayer Leverkusen at the summit.
Bayern fell behind to Angelo Stiller’s 34th-minute strike, but Michael Olise levelled matters before half-time.
Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman were on target after the break to seal the three points for Kompany’s side, with the former Hamburg defender also achieving a personal milestone along the way.
“It’s never easy away at Stuttgart,” he told reporters during his post-match press conference. “I have never won here as a player, but I enjoyed this victory because Stuttgart were the better team at the start.
“As a group, we needed 30 minutes to find our rhythm in the match. After that, all the players improved. They were very important in the crucial moments, and they won many duels.”
Next up for Bayern in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Leverkusen on Wednesday, one of three games in the space of six days.
But Kompany insists his team will not be affected by the busy schedule.
“You just have to stay calm and prepare for the next game and that’s what the team has done and will continue to do,” he added. “That’s what I’ve done throughout my career and that will never change, no matter what happens.”
