Bayern’s Shaqiri on Atletico radar
Spanish La Liga champions Atletico Madrid are stepping up their efforts to sign Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri from Bayern Munich, reports Onda Cero.
Los Colchoneros have been very active in the summer transfer window, but it is no secret they plan to make another attacking signing.
Atletico Madrid seem to have turned their attention to Xherdan Shaqiri, as Onda Cero understands that they are currently in talks with the player’s representatives.
Los Colchoneros could face a stiff competition from Juventus, with the Old Lady also keen on the midfielder who is eager to leave Alianz Arena in search of first team football.
The 22-year-old has established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting prospects and he was in fine form for Switzerland at the 2014 World Cup, scoring 3 goals in 4 matches.
With a number of first team regulars sidelined, Shaqiri has started two of three matches for Bayern in the new season, but he remains unhappy with his status in the squad.
West Ham close on Rennes star
French daily newspaper L’Equipe has learned that West Ham are in advanced talks to sign Rennes defender Jean-Armel Kana-Biyik.
The Cameroon centre-back was believed to be close to joining Palermo, but a switch to Renzo Barbera is no longer an option as the Rosanero have signed Souleyman Bamba and Giancarlo Gonzalez.
According to L’Equipe, Premier League side West Ham plan to take advantage of the situation and lure the 25-year-old to Boleyn Ground.
Kana-Biyik developed into a key player for les Bretons shortly after arriving from Le Havre, but he was dropped from the squad this summer after refusing to sign a new contract.
And with his current deal due to expire in a year’s time, it is perfectly clear he will be leaving Stade de la Route de Lorient in the coming days.
Kana-Biyik, who has made over 150 league appearances for Le Havre and Rennes, only has 4 Cameroon caps to his name.
Lazio slap €35m price tag on Candreva
Lazio midfielder Antonio Candreva will probably remain at Stadio Olimpico beyond the summer, reports Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Italy international has earned plenty of admirers with his performances last season, with Juventus and Napoli showing interest in his services.
However, given that Lazio have set the asking price to €35 million, everything suggests Candreva will not be leaving Stadio Olimpico any time soon.
The fact is the midfielder is not too happy with his current contract as he wants a new deal that would make him one of the club’s highest earners.
The Biancocelesti are currently not prepared to improve his deal and it remains to be seen whether Candreva will eventually request a transfer.
Lazio have signed quite a few quality players this summer, and having hammered Bassano Virtus 7-0 in Coppa Italia, they are 11/4 to beat Milan at San Siro on Sunday.
