Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri will consider leaving Bayern Munich in January, the player’s agent has confirmed.
The Switzerland international was keen to quit Alianz Arena in search of first team football this summer, but the Bavarians in turn rejected offers from Liverpool and Juventus.
And while the 22-year-old is ready to fight for his place at Bayern Munich, he will request a transfer next January unless his status at the club improves significantly.
“Now he was not released, but there is a repeat in the winter, and we will look at how many games Xherdan will have played by then,” the midfielder’s agent and brother Erdin Shaqiri told Kicker.
Xherdan Shaqiri is widely regarded as one of Europe’s hottest prospects, and he has managed to prove his credentials with some excellent showings for Switzerland at the 2014 World Cup.
He has, however, failed to nail down a regular starting berth at Alianz Arena, starting just 23 Bundesliga fixtures during the two years at the club, while making another 20 substitute appearances.
