Bayern Munich have returned from their winter training camp in Doha to prepare for their Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg on Saturday.
The main talking point on their return focused around their goalkeeper, with head coach Luis van Gaal to hand youngster Thomas Kraft his Bundelsiga debut on Saturday.
The Dutch coach had stuck with veteran stopper Hans-Jorg Butt for the first half of the season, but now appears to favour Kraft.
The 22-year-old has made two Champions League appearances and van Gaal has confidence in the youngster’s ability.
“It is my responsibility to the club, the team and to the player and I think we will progress with Thomas Kraft,” van Gaal said.
“The moment has arrived and I have been observing this for one and a half years and I think that I also must think of the future of FC Bayern and I think now is the right moment. He has had 2 weeks’ preparation and so I have decided on Kraft.”
Bayern had an indifferent start to the season, but have steadily improved to lie fifth in the table.
They’re still four points off a Champions League spot, and a massive fourteen short of leaders Borussia Dortmund.
