Bayern Munich honorary president Franz Beckenbauer believes that the Bavarians should try and sign Werder Bremen forward Claudio Pizarro.
The veteran forward has just over a year left on his contract at Weserstadion, and he is seriously thinking about leaving the club in the summer.
The highly rated forward recently revealed that he would be interested in a return to Alianz Arena, and Bayern legend Franz Beckenbauer claims that club chiefs should make a move to sign the experienced striker.
“I have read about Pizarro and he is still one of the best, even at the age of 33,” Beckenbauer told Sky.
“The goals he scores, the way he moves – there is no sign of age there. In my eyes, it would make sense to sign Claudio.”
The Peruvian international has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 16 goals in 22 Bundesliga appearances.
Pizarro spent six years at Bayern during his first spell in Munich, and scored exactly 100 goals in 251 Bundesliga games.
The Bavarians believe that the Peruvian would be a perfect cover for free-scoring Mario Gomez at Alianz Arena.
