Real Salt Lake midfielder Kyle Beckerman was left wondering what had happened after their 1-0 defeat to the Red Bulls.

Dave van den Bergh scored the match-winner for the New York Red Bulls in the 28th minute.

Real Salt Lake had a massive 24 attempts on goal during the match.

“I think we hit every part of the post,” Beckerman mused. “Maybe it’s just soccer or voodoo. I don’t know what it is. It should have been the other way. We should have had all that voodoo stuff for us. It’s at home, right?”

“I really felt like the fighting spirit of the team and the commitment level, again, was very very high,” RSL coach Jason Kreis said.

“It’s a difficult game to score goals (in) as you saw tonight,” Kreis said. “It can happen that way and, unfortunately, it happened for us at the wrong time.”
