Beckford completes permanent Preston switch

Preston North End have completed the permanent signing of Jermaine Beckford, according to Sky Sports.

The forward, who will move when his contract with Bolton Wanderers expires at the end of this month, spent the majority of last season on loan with the Lilywhites for whom he made thirty-one appearances in all competitions, the last of which being the 4-0 win over Swindon Town in the League One Play Off final at Wembley where he scored a hat-trick.

His tally of eighteen league goals was the joint-seventh best in the division, with teammate Joe Garner finishing top with twenty-six.

Prior to his switch to Deepdale, the 31 year old played fifty-one times for Bolton Wanderers though scored just eleven goals while he also played for Leeds United and Everton, and had temporary spells with Carlisle United, Scunthorpe United and Huddersfield Town.

Internationally, he has six caps for Jamaica, with his only goal coming in a 2-1 World Cup qualification defeat to USA two years ago.
