Beckham insists playoff hope is still alive

Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder David Beckham insists they still have a chance to qualify for the playoffs.

The LA Galaxy lost 1-0 against Columbus Crew in their last match.

“The frustration was there a few months ago but we’re in a position where we could still qualify for the playoffs, believe it or not,” Beckham said. “It’s tough when you have to win games. When you don’t win games you don’t give yourself a chance. Tonight the work rate was there and the togetherness was there.”

Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena insists they need to win games, whether it is for the playoff race or not.

“You can sort all the math you want but we’re not winning games,” Arena said. “Whether it’s for the playoff race or not we need to win games. Tonight was progress. You might look at me and say, ‘That guy’s crazy. They lost 1-0,’ but for me that was progress.”
