Carlo Ancelotti believes David Beckham is likely to reach sufficient fitness to make his Paris Saint-Germain debut in mid-February.
PSG face Bastia on Friday but, although the former Manchester United and Real Madrid man has completed his free transfer to the French club, he has yet to train with the squad.
However, the Parc des Princes head coach hinted that a debut against Valencia on February 12 in the Champions League is possible.
Although Ancelotti admitted it was more likely that Beckham will play his first PSG game in Ligue 1 against Sochaux on February 17.
“He works this week with two physical trainers,” the Italian told reporters on Thursday.
“He is in London for personal reasons right now but he will be back with the team before our match with Valencia. It is possible that he will be ready for Sochaux.”
Ancelotti made Beckham his second arrival of the January transfer window after Lucas Moura joined from Sao Paulo at the end of 2012, having agreed a deal worth more than 30 million euros in the summer.
