David Beckham has insisted that he has not thought about his football future since winning the MLS Cup.
Becks could play his last game as a member of the Los Angeles Galaxy against Melbourne Victory on Tuesday.
Although the former Manchester United has been reportedly offered an 18-month deal worth a reported $17.9 million by Ligue 1 giants Paris St Germain, he is still uncertain of his future.
Perhaps he’s looking for a nice round $18 million. In other words, $1 million in monthly wages. We shall see.
“I said I’d get this season and this tour out of the way and then have some family time and obviously make a big decision,” said Beckham.
“I’ve not even started thinking about it yet. I wanted to end this season with a championship and we did that, and then I wanted to have some time on this tour – we’ve been able to celebrate it.
“It’s been nice coming on this tour knowing we’re champions of the MLS.
“I haven’t really started thinking about my playing future yet. Once I get some down time, then I’ll obviously think what is going to be best.
“I’m going to spend some time with the family and have a good Christmas. I might make (my decision) before it, I might be able to make it after it, but we’ll see.”
Manchester City defender Kolo Toure is just the latest City player to throw a fit.
The Ivorian international has claimed that he is currently paying for missing English Premier League games two years ago while he was representing Ivory Coast in the African Cup of Nations. A bold statement, but perhaps lacking in merit.
Toure was also extremely critical of Stefan Savic, who seems to have surpassed the former Arsenal star on Roberto Mancini’s depth chart. Now that’s just mean!
“I know my qualities and I have got nothing to prove here in England. They know me here. When you look at the performance of Savic against QPR, excuse me but I am relaxed.
“To compete in the Africa Cup of Nations is catastrophic for a player these days. Coaches no longer want to sign players because of it. I feel it’s going to be more difficult for the Africans in football in the future.
“I’m convinced that, if I’m not playing for City, then it’s not only for football reasons. If it was only about that then I would be playing every week. I’m a victim of that and it has to be said.
“When I was in Angola for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2010 the club hired a plane so that I could get back quickly to play in a game against Manchester United. I could not get back in time and we lost. I believe the club have not got past that and I’m paying for it now.”
