Switzerland international Valon Behrami has signed for Serie A club Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old has joined the Florence-based club after a two-and-a-half-year stint at Premier League strugglers West Ham.

Behrami initially joined the Upton Park outfit from Lazio, and returns to Italy after previously stating he felt homesick in England.

A move for the international was expected in the January transfer window, with Fiorentina boss Sinisa Mihajlovic keen to bring the midfielder to the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

“The club would like to thank Behrami for his contribution and wish him every success for the future,” a statement on West Ham’s official website said.

Behrami made 63 appearances for the Hammers, scoring five goals.
