Swiss midfielder Valon Behrami has moved to deny reports that he will be leaving Artemio Franchi at the end of the season.
The 26-year-old has made an instant impact in Florence following his arrival from West Ham and managed to attract attention of big European clubs in the process.
Behrami was heavily linked with a January switch to Juventus, but he now reveals that he would never join Fiorentina’s arch rivals.
“Going to Juventus would’ve been a betrayal. The President and director of sport know full well what my intentions were,” Behrami told Corriere Fiorentino.
The two clubs have established a genuine rivalry in the 1990s and Behrami is well aware of the current situation.
Despite the heavy interest from abroad, the Swiss midfielder claims that he has no plans of leaving Viola in the near future.
“I have found the right club for me in Florence. I wrote it on Twitter and confirm it here: I will stay in this city for a long time.”
Behrami joined Fiorentina in a €2 million move from West Ham in January 2011 and quickly became an integral part of the squad.
The combative midfielder started 19 Serie A games this season, but has yet to score a league goal for Fiorentina.
