Kortrijk came from two goals behind to snatch a 2-2 draw with Zulte-Waregem in an exciting Belgian First Division encounter on Saturday.
The ill-tempered match was kick-started by Karel D’Heane who opened the scoring for Zulte-Waregem after just 14 minutes.
The visitors then extended their lead just after the break through Mahamadou Habibou and set Kortrijk a difficult task if they wanted to remain in the match.
But French defender Baptiste Martin’s 50th-minute strike breathed life into the home crowd at the Guldensporenstadion and the hosts pressed for an equaliser, which finally came with just 10 minutes remaining when midfielder Davy De Beule netted his fourth goal in three matches.
Israeli Rami Gershon was sent off in the dying stages for the hosts, with no side able to find a late winner and therefore being forced to share the spoils.
The result was a blow to Zulte-Waregem who have now won just one of their last 11 matches and have slipped to 11th on the table while Kortrijk have risen to ninth.
