Racing Genk has taken another step towards clinching the Belgian First Division after edging out Anderlecht 1-0 at home on Friday.
Jelle Vossen scored the only goal for Genk, who have now taken a considerable lead in the playoffs standings.
The Belgium international striker’s 17th-minute goal was enough to ensure the points for the 2001/02 champions.
The result sees them open up a seven-point buffer from second-placed Standard Liege, who have played one game fewer than their title rivals.
Franky Vercauteren’s men will claim the third league crown in the club’s 22-year history should they hang onto first, with four games remaining.
They visit Club Brugge on Tuesday before closing out the season with clashes against Gent and Standard Liege.
