Anderlecht increased their lead on top of the Belgian First Division to six points on Saturday with a 2-0 win over St Truiden at home.

Brazilian striker Kanu gave Anderlecht the lead just after the half-time break before Argentine Matias Suarez put the result beyond doubt after 67 minutes.

The win further extends Anderlecht’s lead over second-placed Genk, who take on Club Brugge on Sunday.

Elsewhere on Saturday, bottom side Charleroi enjoyed a rare win with a 2-0 triumph over Zulte-Waregem thanks to goals from Didu Biton and Jeremy Serwy, to move to within two points of 15th-placed Lierse.

Westerlo came from behind to defeat Kortrijk 2-1 at Het Kuipje.

Serbian striker Stefan Scepovic gave Kortrijk the lead after 24 minutes before second-half goals to Rachid Farssi and Steven de Petter put Westerlo ahead.

And fourth-placed Cercle Brugge could not make up any ground on the top three when they slumped to a 1-0 home defeat to Mechelen.

French midfielder Julien Gorius scored the only goal of the game to lift his side into sixth place.
