Donovan Deekman’s injury time winner gave Lokeren a 2-1 come-from-behind victory at Westerlo in the Belgian First Division on Wednesday.

Westerlo entered the game in poor form, having won just two of their last 11 matches, while Lokeren were unbeaten in three and looking for their first away win since October.

At the Het Kuipje, Westerlo took a 26th-minute lead when midfielder Christian Bruls found the back of the net for the second time in four matches.

But Lokeren, sitting comfortably inside the top half, fought back well and Deekman’s 77th-minute goal set up an exciting finale.

With both sides going for all three points, Deekman popped up again to convert Laurens De Bock’s assist and give the visitors a spirited victory.

In the day’s other match, Gent extended their unbeaten run to eight with a 2-2 draw at Germinal Beerschot.

The match was originally played on December 19 but suspended at 0-0 due to heavy snow.

Senegalese forward Elimane Coulibaly gave Gent a ninth-minute lead but the hosts hit back with two goals in four first-half minutes from former West Brom striker Sherjill MacDonald and Gary Kagelmacher.

Yassine El Ghanassy scored an equaliser for Gent early in the second half but neither side could get a winner.
