(GSM) – Belgian champions Anderlecht were crushed 5-1 at Standard Liege in Sunday’s Pro League action, while Club Brugge earned a 3-2 win over Gent.

Anderlecht needed a good result in Liege to keep pressure on leaders Genk, but instead stood no chance against a much stronger Standard.

Mbaye Leye put the home side in the lead after four minutes, but the true rout came in the second half with Mohamed Tchite scoring in the 54th and 58th minutes.

Mbark Boussoufa scored back for Anderlecht in the 66th minute but Erik Bokanga and Mehdi Carcela found the target late on for a 5-1 final result.

Standard move into third place as result of this win. Gent, who lost 3-2 at Club Brugge, drop to fourth.

Club dominated in the opening half hour against Gent, with goals from Dorge Kouemaha, Karel Geraerts and Ronald Vargas. Yassine El Ghanassy and Bernd Thijs did something back for Gent but Brugge held on to take the points.
