Belgian champions Anderlecht closed in on current leaders Genk following a 2-0 win over Westerlo on Sunday.

After Genk lost 1-0 at Kortrijk on Friday, Anderlecht had a chance to reduce the gap from eight points to five.

The Brussels outfit suffered an early set-back as Jan Polak received a straight red card in the 17th minute, but Anderlecht did not seem to suffer too much as Romelo Lukaku then netted the opening goal in the 32nd.

An own goal from Adnan Mravac helped the hosts to a 2-0 lead in the 79th minute.

Club Brugge meanwhile, dropped to eighth place after losing 1-0 at Lokeren. The only goal came from Jeremy Taravel in the 39th minute.
