(GSM) – Club Brugge remained at five points from Belgian Eerste Klasse leaders Anderlecht thanks to a 2-1 win over Westerlo on Saturday.
Anderlecht had already beaten Germinal Beerschot 0-5 a day earlier, and Brugge needed a win at home in order to keep some realistic championship hope.
Ivan Perisic put ‘Club’ in the lead after 14 minutes at Jan Breydel stadium, but had his goal cancelled out by Ukranian Okeksandr Sacha in the 53rd.
The hosts had the final say however, as Nigerian substitute Joseph Akpala netted the winner with just three minutes to go.
Next Wednesday, the Belgian championship features a top clash between Anderlecht and Brugge in the city of Brussels.
