The Daily Mirror has learned that Arsenal plan to offer star defender Hector Bellerin a new and improved deal in an attempt to ward off heavy interest in his services.
According to reports, the Spaniard has become a top target for Barcelona and Manchester City, and the club officials have decided to act before the player has time to consider the possibility of leaving the Gunners.
Arsenal have informed Bellerin’s representatives that they are ready to discuss a new five-year deal for their client, with negotiations set to start after the international break.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is clearly determined to keep hold of his star player, who has seen his stock rise a great deal over the last couple of years.
The 21-year-old is now regarded one of Europe’s top right-sided defenders, and while he is very loyal to Arsenal, Bellerin wants to challenge for major honours in the future, meaning a lot will depend on whether the Gunners can win a major trophy this season.
