Carlo Ancelotti insisted Jude Bellingham did “absolutely nothing” wrong following his red card in Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Osasuna.
The England midfielder was dismissed in the 39th minute for foul and abusive language towards referee Jose Luis Munuera Montero.
Bellingham had been involved in a lengthy argument with the official before receiving a straight red card – the second of his career with Madrid.
Ancelotti acknowledged the 21-year-old used an expletive, but was adamant it was not aimed at the referee.
“I think with Bellingham’s red card, [the referee] didn’t understand the English well. I don’t think it’s something offensive,” the Madrid boss said.
“I think the red card came out because the referee was nervous. Bellingham did nothing today to have been sent off, absolutely nothing.”
@BellinghamJude: “There was no insult and it’s clear on the video.”
