With Thomas Tuchel still trying to find some stability since arriving at Bayern Munich back in March, it appears that this season’s Bundesliga title chase is going down to the wire.
Although the Premier League might have broken a string of financial records over the past two transfer windows, Germany’s top-flight has produced a host of European superstars this season.
After watching the likes of Robert Lewandowski leave Germany in search of a new Spanish adventure last year, it appears that a number of Bundesliga stars are at the heart of real interest in 2023.
Ahead of what looks like it could be a rollercoaster summer from across Germany, we have taken a look at three Bundesliga superstars who are eyeing a blockbuster move.
Jude Bellingham – Borussia Dortmund
While Borussia Dortmund might still be in the race to claim a first Bundesliga crown since 2012, many around rural Germany have accepted that their midfield talisman will be on the move this summer.
Only continuing to shine this season and quickly transforming into one of Europe’s most sort after stars, Jude Bellingham finds his stock at a red-hot high and it is no secret that all of world football’s elite are desperate to snap up the England international.
Really making a statement out in Qatar over the winter as Gareth Southgate’s squad reached the World Cup quarter-finals, the ex-Birmingham starlet appears destined for what would be a history-making move to the Bernabeu when the transfer window reopens.
Although Premier League giants Manchester City might be another European powerhouse who are eager to bring Bellingham back to England, it is Real Madrid who look like they have moved into pole position to clinch the 19-year-old’s signature.
Notching four Champions League goals this season and with no English player recording more European strikes, ESPN reported last week that Los Blancos have already agreed personal terms with Bellingham’s camp and they are close to agreeing a fee that could be in excess of £100million.
Randal Kolo Muani – Eintracht Frankfurt
Showing a string of issues on either side of March’s international break, Eintracht Frankfurt have accepted that it will take a minor Bundesliga miracle in their bid to clinch a European finish this season.
However, although the Eagles might have come under a huge amount of scrutiny since opening 2023, the impressive Randal Kolo Muani has continued on a real free-scoring romp this year.
Really bursting onto the scene as France clinched a World Cup silver medal finish out in Qatar over the winter, the 24-year-old has been linked with what could be a record-breaking move to the Premier League when the window reopens.
Once again finding the net as Frankfurt punched their DFP Pokal final ticket on May 3rd, Kolo Muani has also bagged 13 Bundesliga strikes this season – a tally that is only surpassed by Werder Bremen’s Niclas Fullkrug.
Although The Daily Mail might have reported last week that the Eagles have slapped an eye-water £78million price tag on their attacking talisman, Premier League heavyweights Manchester United remain keen on completing a blockbuster swoop this summer and are keeping tabs on Kolo Muani’s situation.
Marcus Thuram – Borussia Monchengladbach
Already accepting that their wait to book a European return will go on for at least another season, Borussia Monchengladbach have had little to cheer about this season.
Knowing that the best that they can do is secure an underwhelming top-half finish, the Borussia-Park hierarchy appear to have already come to terms with the fact that their attacking MVP will be heading for the Bundesliga exit this summer.
Although the Foals might have gained a reputation for their defensive issues throughout the 2022/23 campaign, Marcus Thuram has undoubtedly been Gladnach’s standout performer on either side of the World Cup’s winter break.
Sat level with Kolo Muani on 13 Bundesliga strikes this season, the French international looks destined for a free switch this summer after passing on any opportunity to extend his current deal in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Daily Mail suggested last week that Premier League giants such as Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal have all expressed a huge interest in snapping up Thuram when his contract expires in June.
With 18 Bundesliga goal contributions this season and becoming a regular part of Didier Deschamps’ France squad, the 25-year-old has a real decision to make over the next few weeks.
