Ben Arfa in West Ham link prior to Rennes switch

Talksport understand that Hatem Ben Arfa rejected the chance to join West Ham United in the summer.

The midfielder was a free agent in the summer after his contract with Paris Saint Germain expired at the end of last season.

He signed for fellow Ligue 1 side Rennes at the beginning of September having received several offers and it is reported that one of those came from the Hammers.

Ben Arfa didn’t feature at all for PSG last term though he played thirty-two times during the 2016/17 campaign, scoring four goals and helping them to success in the French Cup and French League Cup.

The league championship did elude him with the Parisian side though he won four titles during his time with Lyon and another with Marseille in 2010.

The 31 year old did spend the best part of five years in the Premier League in spells with Newcastle United and Hull City.
