Ben Chilwell will not take pay-cut to leave Chelsea

Chelsea could struggle to offload Ben Chilwell in the January transfer window, according to The Sun. The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca wants to get rid of Chilwell, but his huge salary will make it tough to do so.

Chilwell earns £190,000 per week in salary at Chelsea and the left-back will not take a pay cut to move to a different club in the January transfer window. The England international, who can also operate as a left wing-back, is unhappy at Chelsea because of his lack of playing time.

The defender has played just 45 minutes for Chelsea so far this season. Chilwell was not even registered in the London club’s UEFA Conference League squad for the group stage. The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners, who could lose Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Leicester City, wanted to offload Chilwell in the summer of 2024 as well.
