Bendtner open to Russia switch

Russian daily Izvestia understands that Zenit and Anzhi are lining up a summer move for Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner.

The Danish forward is currently on loan at Juventus, but he is unlikely to feature for the Bianconeri again after picking up a groin injury.

With his contract set to expire in June 2014, Arsenal will attempt to cash in on the striker in the summer transfer window.

Russian giants Zenit and Anzhi are keen on Bendtner, and have already established initial contacts, according to the player’s representative.

“We have had several contacts with the Russian sides,” agent Tom Brooks confirmed to Izvestia.

“In addition, English and Italian clubs have shown interest in Nicklas, and the player himself would like to play in the Champions League.”

Zenit and Anzhi are currently locked in the battle for the final Champions League berth, and the team that win the race will see their chances of signing the Denmark international increase a great deal.

Nicklas Bendtner has spent the majority of his professional career at Arsenal, while enjoying loan spells with Birmingham, Sunderland and Juventus.
