(GSM) – Nicklas Bendtner has blasted George Boateng. The Arsenal striker blamed the Hull City midfielder for his dangerous challenge on Bacary Sagna.
Boateng was sent off for a second bookable offence after a high challenge on Sagna during Arsenal’s last-gasp 2-1 win at the KC Stadium on Saturday.
Bendtner was involved in a scuffle with Boateng before the dismissal, with the Dutchman appearing to poke the Gunners striker in the eye.
The Denmark international believes Boateng took out his frustration on Sagna following the bust-up between the pair.
“I said to him: ‘If you want something, you’ve got to be fair’,” said Bendtner. “You don’t poke someone in the eye on the pitch when the ref isn’t looking.
“For me, that’s not fair. I said that to him and he got a bit upset. He took it out on Bac (Sagna) and rightly got a red card and from then on the game settled down.
“Most of the challenges were fair, except that one. It was a poor challenge. You can see Bac’s knee and it’s got stud marks all along it so the referee had no choice. It could have been another serious injury but, luckily, nothing happened.”
Meanwhile, Bendtner hailed Arsenal’s never-say-die attitude after their dramatic late win at Hull kept their title dreams alive.
“If you give up after 80 minutes, you cannot be a player,” added Bendtner. “I always believe right until the last minute that we can do it because I’ve seen it so many times.
“We pass it around, people think it’s over and then we score a goal out of nothing.”
