Portuguese daily newspaper O Jogo has learned that Benfica are hot on the trail of Arsenal forward Joel Campbell.
The Eagles aim to sign another quality attacker before the transfer window closes and they have turned to the Costa Rica star after failing to recruit Abel Hernandez from Palermo.
Benfica are currently in talks with Arsenal and given that the player seems interested in a move to Estadio da Luz, they believe the deal can be wrapped up for some €10 million.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has yet to decide whether he needs Campbell in the light of Olivier Giroud’s injury, but having used the forward very little in the opening exchanges, the Frenchman may be willing to sanction the deal.
Benfica, who are 5/6 to extend the winning run against Sporting Lisbon, are confident they can successfully end the negotiations and lure one of world’s hottest prospects to Estadio da Luz.
