Benfica are closing in on Twente forward Ola John, Portuguese newspaper A Bola has revealed.
The Eagles have long ago shown interest in the Liberia-born player, and they have recently opened negotiations with the Dutch club.
Twente first requested €15 million for the player who has made Netherlands provisional Euro 2012 squad, but A Bola claims they have now agreed to lower their asking price to €12 million.
The Eagles are hoping to further reduce the cost of the transfer, but the negotiations are set to be shelved for a while as the Dutch club focus on their Europa League play-offs.
The young forward started his professional career at Twente and after featuring in 13 Eredivisie games last term, he has really exploded this season.
Ola John has been one of team’s star performers this term, scoring 8 goals and producing no less than 16 assists in 33 Eredivisie games.
