Benfica are on the verge of signing defender Sebastien Pocognoli from Standard Liege, Record understands.

The Portuguese giants have been searching for a new left-back since the beginning of the summer transfer window and have been paired with a number of high-profile players.

It now appears that the long search is finally over as Record claims the Eagles are set to sign Standard Liege full-back Sebastien Pocognoli.

According to the same source, Benfica have agreed to pay around €7 million for the Belgian international, who shares the same agent as his former teammate Axel Witsel.

The two players will now get reunited at Estadio Da Luz, that is if Benfica manage to ward off interest from the clubs interested in the highly rated midfielder.

The 25-year-old has spent last two and a half seasons at Standard Liege, where he made a total of 78 league appearances for the Reds.
