(GSM) – Benfica are close to winning the Portuguese championship following a 2-0 win over local rivals Sporting Lisbon on Tuesday.

After a goalless first half, Benfica’s Oscar Cardozo broke the deadlock in the 68th minute to put the hosts in the lead.

Argentinian midfielder Pablo Aimar doubled the advantage ten minutes later, and Sporting never managed to recover from that blow.

Benfica are now six points ahead of second-placed Sporting Braga with just four rounds of games to go.
