Benfica jumped back to second place in the Portuguese league thanks to a 1-2 victory at Uniao de Leiria on Sunday.
After only four minutes at Leiria’s Estadio Dr. Magalhaes Pessoa, it was Argentinian striker Javier Saviola to put the visitors from Lisbon in the lead.
An own goal from David Luiz then balanced things in minute 18, but a penalty converted by Oscar Cardozo in the 78th minute gave Benfica the win and three valuable points.
Only Sporting Braga are still two points ahead of Benfica, having won all of their first five games.
