Portuguese giants Benfica are being linked with a summer move for Independiente defender Victor Leandro Cuesta, according to O Jogo.

The Eagles expect to see several high-profile players leave in the summer and they are currently in the market for new reinforcements.

O Jogo has learned that Benfica officials are weighing up summer bid for Victor Cuesta, as they have already met with the player’s official representative.

And while the centre-back plies his trade with Independiente, it is his agent who owns half of his contract, which is likely to help during the negotiations process.

Victor Cuesta joined Independiente from Arsenal de Sarandi last summer and has since started 27 league fixtures, scoring two goals in the process. Prior to joining Arsenal de Sarandi, Cuesta had enjoyed two seasons with Defensa y Justicia.

The 26-year-old appears to have done enough to catch the eye of Benfica scouts and could now be moving to Europe in the summer transfer window.
