Portuguese giants Benfica are showing interest in Barcelona youngster Alejandro Grimaldo, according to A Bola.
The 19 year old has caught the eye of the Primeira Liga outfit with some very good showings for Barcelona B in Spain’s second division, and the Eagles now aim to lure him to Estadio da Luz at the earliest opportunity.
Given that the full-back’s contract at Camp Nou is due to expire at the end of the current campaign, Benfica hope to recruit the defender on a cut-price deal.
However, Barcelona officials are desperate to keep hold of one of club’s hottest prospects and are set to offer him a contract extension.
Alejandro Grimaldo has already shown a great deal of potential, making 78 appearances for club’s B side and scoring 4 goals.
The left-sided defender can also operate in the centre of the park and is predicted a bright future in the game.
