Benfica are considering a move for Toulouse shot-stopper Ali Ahamada, French media outlet L’Equipe has learned.
The Eagles are in the market for a long-term successor to Jan Oblak despite signing veteran Julio Cesar in the summer and the 23-year-old is one of the first names on their hit-list.
Ali Ahamada is almost certain to leave Toulouse in January considering that his current contract is due to expire at the end of the season.
The talented goalkeeper was dropped from the starting line-up after refusing to sign a new deal at Stade Municipal, with summer recruit Zacharia Boucher taking his place between the sticks.
Ahamada had made a total of 104 Ligue 1 appearances up to that moment, and he remains one of France’s most talented goalkeepers.
The former France Under-21 international made the headlines back in 2012 when he scored a last-gasp header to secure one point in the league clash against Rennes.
