Benfica in fresh assault on Joel Campbell

Benfica are ready to rekindle their interest in Arsenal forward Joel Campbell, O Jogo understands.

The Eagles had a €10 million bid rejected for the Costa Rican last season, but they have not given up on the highly rated footballer.

Benfica plan to submit a new proposal for Campbell in the coming weeks, having seen the player’s value decrease over the last six months.

Namely, the Costa Rican has failed to impress during a short loan spell with Villarreal, while the fact that his contract is due to expire in June 2016 also plays a part.

Benfica are now readying a bid that will be lower than the one offered last term, but they, nonetheless, hope to add Campbell to their ranks this summer.

At the same time, the Eagles are close to securing the signature of Anderlecht and Serbia starlet Aleksandar Mitrovic, who bagged 20 goals in 37 league outings last season.
