A Bola has revealed that Benfica are hot on the trail of Barcelona defender Douglas Pereira.
The Eagles plan to recruit a new right-back after seeing Nelson Semedo leave and they have now set their sights on the Catalans flop.
Barcelona are happy to offload the Brazilian after he failed to prove his worth at Camp Nou and the two sides are currently negotiating a loan deal.
But, while the Catalans want Benfica to pay the player’s wages (€2m gross) in full, the Eagles are not prepared to offer more than €700,000.
Douglas Pereira hopes the two clubs will eventually manage to reach an agreement, allowing him to move to Estadio da Luz.
The 27-year-old fared pretty well while on loan at Sporting Gijon last season, scoring 3 goals in 21 La Liga matches.
