Benfica are stepping up their efforts to sign Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster, Portuguese daily O Jogo has learned.
The Eagles are on the lookout for a new shot-stopper who would provide competition for Artur Moraes and they have recently turned to the English footballer.
Boss Jorge Jesus has been impressed with the 25-year-old in last year’s Champions League and he is determined to lure him to Estadio da Luz.
O Jogo understands that Benfica officials are already negotiating a purchase price, but it remains to be seen if the Bhoys will agree to sell their prized asset.
Forster, who began his career at Newcastle, has developed into one of Europe’s top goalkeepers during his time at Parkhead and was recently linked with a return to English Premier League.
The talented goalkeeper has spent last three seasons at Parkhead, making 103 SPL appearances and featuring in another 16 Champions League fixtures.
