Portuguese daily newspaper A Bola understands that Benfica are exploring the possibility of signing French midfielder Joshua Guilavogui from Wolfsburg.
The Eagles plan to reinforce their midfield department as Andreas Samaris looks set to leave and they have now set their sights on the Wolves footballer.
Benfica chairman Luis Filipe Vieira has been trying to agree a deal with Guilavogui and his agents, but a €3 million yearly salary may prove to be a serious obstacle.
The Eagles also need to agree a transfer fee with Wolfsburg, who paid €12 million for the player’s services two years ago.
Joshua Guilavogui, 27, enjoyed a very good season last term, producing 3 goals and 2 assists in 29 Bundesliga outings.
