Independiente midfielder Ezequiel Barco is being linked with a summer move to Benfica, according to Argentine newspaper Diario Popular.
The 17-year-old is widely regarded as one of the country’s hottest prospects, and he is predicted a bright future in the game.
Following some very good showings for CA Independiente and Argentina Under-20 side, top European clubs have started casting admiring glances his way.
According to Diario Popular an investment company is prepared to offer around $6 million for the player’s economic rights, with a view of sending him to Benfica in the summer.
However, his current employers are playing hard ball as they believe Barco’s value will further increase after the Under-20 World Cup, taking place next summer.
Despite his fragile age, the attacking midfielder already has 14 league appearances to his name, starting 4 of those matches and scoring one goal in the process.
